How Snow Guards Work
Snowfall during a snow storm can accumulate for hours or even days. Metal roof snow guards help prevent that snow from dangerously crashing off the roof after the snow stops fall. We hope this picture helps illustrate how snow guards work.
The snow that actually touches the roof begins to melt during the day and re-freeze at night, often forming a dense layer of ice. This ice layer will eventually lose it's grip on the roof, causing the entire snow covered area to dangerously avalanche off the roof. Snow guards are installed to prevent this from happening by providing a holding field throughout the entire roof area that holds the snow and ice in place. Metal roof snow guards help prevent the movement of snow and ice, rather than try to stop it once it has already begun to move.
